Roll up your sleeves for the Mother Road! Join Road Runner’s Retreat’s annual volunteer work party and help care for this historic desert stop near Chambless.
This year’s projects include picking up litter along Route 66 between Kelbaker Road and Cadiz Road, cleaning the property, repairing the old wash house, and sanding and painting the entrance gate. It’s a chance to meet fellow Route 66 supporters and leave a little of the highway better than you found it.
Work begins at 8 a.m. and continues until dusk. Contact the organizers before heading out to confirm arrival directions,... current road access, what to bring, and participation requirements.
