Angel’s Barbershop & Route 66 Gift Shop is one of the most important living landmarks on the Mother Road. Barber Angel Delgadillo became a driving force behind the effort to preserve Historic Route 66 after Interstate 40 bypassed Seligman in 1978. In 1987, his shop served as the first headquarters of the newly formed Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona, helping launch the preservation movement that eventually spread across all eight Route 66 states. Angel and his wife, Vilma, later began selling Route 66 memorabilia from the shop, creating what became The Original Route 66 Gift Shop. Today, the family-run stop combines Route 66 history, souvenirs, visitor information and the legacy of the man often called the “Guardian Angel of Route 66.”
