About

We’ve been welcoming Route 66 travelers since 1953, when Juan and Mary Delgadillo established the Snow Cap in Seligman. Working with his father and brothers, Juan built the little drive-in from scrap lumber collected while working for the Santa Fe Railway, then gave it a personality all its own with colorful signs, roadside curiosities and his famously mischievous sense of humor. A decorated 1936 Chevrolet became part of the scene outside, while jokes such as the “cheeseburger with cheese” and “dead chicken” became Snow Cap traditions. Juan also joined his brother Angel and other local business owners in the 1987 movement that helped organize the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona and revive interest in the old highway.

Today, we’re still a family-run stop where the experience is as memorable as the food. Juan’s son John and daughter Cecilia continue the tradition, serving classic drive-in favorites including burgers, hot dogs, shakes, malts, ice cream and fountain drinks while keeping the jokes and playful counter antics alive. Travelers can settle into the outdoor seating, explore the signs and memorabilia around the property, and visit Juan’s Garden behind the restaurant. Come prepared for a meal, a few photos and possibly a fake squirt of mustard—the Snow Cap has never taken itself too seriously.
