About
We’ve been a family-owned bakery since Christ and Helen Doucleff opened Duke Bakery in 1951, beginning a tradition that has now continued through three generations. Our Granite City location opened on Nameoki Road in 2006 to better serve the Metro East community, bringing our full-line bakery closer to customers on this side of the region. Today, travelers will find cases filled with fresh donuts, traditional cookies, danishes and pastries, pies, breads and buns, along with birthday, wedding and specialty cakes. Duke favorites include our signature Yum Yum donut and Georgie Porgie pie, alongside seasonal treats that change throughout the year.
Our Granite City shop also gives Route 66 travelers a contemporary local stop along a historically important piece of the road. Nameoki Road formed part of the original 1926 alignment of Route 66 through Granite City, although Duke Bakery itself did not arrive here until decades later. That distinction is part of what makes the stop relevant today: we’re not a surviving Route 66-era bakery, but a longtime regional family business serving travelers and locals on the old alignment. In 2026, Duke Bakery celebrates its 75th anniversary, continuing the family tradition with fresh baked goods, special orders and a strong connection to the communities we serve.
