Fabulous 40 Motel

About Us

The Fabulous 40 Motel is a classic roadside motel in Adrian, near the celebrated midpoint of Route 66. Kenny and Marjorie Callstrom built and opened the 20-room motel in 1967, naming it for Interstate 40, the new freeway running behind the property. The motel served Mother Road travelers for decades before closing in 2004 following the deaths of its longtime owners.

Roy and Ramona Kiewert purchased the property in 2016 and reopened it that October after cleaning, plumbing repairs, and other improvements. They retained much of the motel’s original furniture and restored its distinctive roadside sign, helping preserve the property’s mid-century character. Today, the independently operated motel offers travelers an old-fashioned Route 66 lodging experience just east of the Midpoint Café.
