About
We created the Litchfield Museum & Route 66 Welcome Center to preserve the people, places, and stories that make Litchfield special. What began as a dream by local historian and newspaper editor David Jackson became a reality through the dedication of his family and a passionate group of volunteers who believed our community's history deserved a permanent home.
Today, we're proud to welcome visitors from around the world to explore Litchfield's rich heritage. From our Historic Route 66 exhibit featuring Bob Waldmire artwork, vintage road signs, a restored gas pump, and classic roadside memorabilia to displays highlighting our schools, veterans, businesses, churches, and industries, every corner of the museum tells a piece of our story. Whether you're traveling the Mother Road, researching your family history, or simply discovering Litchfield for the first time, we invite you to step inside and experience the stories that continue to shape our community.
