About

The Miami Public Library Murals bring colorful public art to the heart of downtown Miami along historic Route 66. Created across the exterior of the library, the murals transform the mid-century building into an outdoor canvas celebrating reading, nature, community, and the Mother Road.

One mural incorporates Route 66 imagery into a whimsical scene centered around reading, including the iconic highway shield and references to Miami’s place along the historic route. Near the library entrance, another striking mural features two stylized birds surrounded by sweeping botanical forms and colorful flowers, creating a dramatic centerpiece across the building’s dark brick wall.

Together, the murals add another stop to Miami’s growing collection of public art while connecting the library’s longtime role in the community with the creativity and Route 66 identity found throughout downtown.
