The Ottawa County Courthouse stands in the heart of downtown Miami, just a block from historic Route 66. As the center of county government, the courthouse has long been part of the civic life of Miami and the surrounding communities of Ottawa County.

The courthouse grounds also contain several interesting pieces of local and national history. Most notable is a bronze replica of the Statue of Liberty, dedicated in 1950 as part of the Boy Scouts of America’s nationwide “Strengthen the Arm of Liberty” campaign. Hundreds of these statues were placed across the country between 1949 and 1952, and Miami’s remains a distinctive landmark in the downtown district.

Historic military field guns displayed near the courthouse entrance add another layer to the site. Together, the courthouse, monuments, and surrounding downtown architecture make this an interesting stop while exploring Miami’s historic Route 66 corridor.
