About Us
Welcome to the Sapulpa Historical Society Museum! Since 1968, we've been preserving and sharing the history of Sapulpa and the surrounding area. Our home is the historic Lee Hotel, built in 1910, which has served as a hotel, the YWCA, and now a museum dedicated to preserving our community's heritage.
Today, our museum spans all three floors of the building and features exhibits showcasing Sapulpa's early businesses, Creek and Euchee Native American history, the Frisco Railroad, military history, and many of the people who helped shape our community. We've also recreated a small village with historic buildings, including a blacksmith shop, sheriff's office, general store, church, and boarding school, giving visitors a glimpse into everyday life in early Oklahoma.
Over the years, we've expanded beyond the museum by preserving additional historic properties, including the Waite Phillips–Barnsdall Filling Station and the Sapulpa Fire Museum. We invite you to spend about an hour exploring our exhibits with one of our knowledgeable docents and discover the stories, people, and places that make Sapulpa such a special stop along Route 66.
