About
Wall of Prayers is a large-scale mural by acclaimed Oklahoma artist Yatika Starr Fields, bringing his distinctive sense of movement, color, and Indigenous cultural expression to downtown Miami’s Route 66 Cultural District. The composition stretches across a dark brick wall in sweeping layers of richly colored forms, textiles, figures, and imagery that seem to move across the surface.
Fields, an Osage, Cherokee and Muscogee (Creek) artist, is known for contemporary work that draws upon Native culture, landscape, memory and movement while incorporating the visual energy of street art and graffiti. His murals can be found throughout Oklahoma and across the United States.
Located just off Main Street, Wall of Prayers is part of Miami's growing collection of public art along and near Historic Route 66. Its enormous scale and layered imagery reward a closer look, making it one of the more visually striking mural stops while exploring downtown Miami. The City of Miami's mural tour officially lists the work at 128 N Main Street and credits Yatika Fields as the artist.
