About
Standing prominently along historic Route 66, Yukon's Best Flour Sign celebrates Oklahoma's agricultural heritage. The Yukon Mill and Grain Company established its mill in 1902, producing flour from locally grown wheat. During the 1940s, the company installed its enormous illuminated sign above the grain elevator. Its glowing letters became a familiar landmark welcoming travelers to Yukon. In 2013, community fundraising helped restore the sign with modern LED lighting, preserving its recognizable appearance.
Although flour production ended during the 1970s, the towering mill remains an important Yukon landmark. Its historic buildings preserve the community's milling heritage and early industrial architecture. Colorful murals depicting local history add another attraction to the property. Visitors can photograph the massive grain elevators and admire their distinctive signage. The illuminated sign is especially recognizable after dark, when its letters brighten Yukon's skyline
