About

Since opening in 1954, the Hill Top Motel has been one of Kingman's recognizable Route 66 landmarks. Perched on a hillside overlooking the city, its iconic neon sign welcomed generations of travelers during the golden age of the Mother Road. Built by developer John Mescheid after the property was acquired in 1953, the motel became a classic example of the mid-century motor courts that defined Route 66 travel.

Although the motel is currently closed, it remains an important piece of Kingman's Route 66 story. Its vintage architecture, elevated setting, and historic sign continue to remind visitors of an era when family-owned roadside motels were an essential part of every cross-country adventure.
