About Us

Welcome to Sal & Inez's Service Station, home of the last operating Whiting Brothers service station on historic Route 66. Built in 1954, our station has been welcoming travelers for generations and proudly preserves the legacy of one of the Southwest's most recognizable roadside brands.

After beginning his career here in 1969, Sal Lucero purchased the station in 1985 and dedicated himself to keeping this Route 66 landmark alive. While we no longer sell gasoline, we continue serving travelers with tire repairs, automotive services, friendly conversation, and a genuine appreciation for the Mother Road. Our beautifully restored Whiting Brothers signs, vintage pumps, and original station architecture make this one of the most photographed and recognizable stops along Route 66.

Whether you're driving the entire Mother Road or simply passing through Moriarty, we invite you to stop in, look around, and experience a living piece of Route 66 history. We're proud to carry forward the tradition of welcoming travelers just as this station has done for more than seventy years.
